This is my very first time writing for Yuletide, though I’ve watched it wistfully for several years.  I decided that this was finally the year I was going to do it.

 

So if this doesn’t look like any Yuletide letter you’ve ever seen, I hope you still get out of it what you need to help you with my request.  Here we go.

*Ebenezer and Jacob are a natural pairing to me at least, and I love reading them together.  Please leave both Jacob and Ebenezer alive.  In my headcanon, which I have yet to mange to write a story for but intend to eventually, it was Jacob who came to a realization about their empty lives first and then shared it with Ebenezer, long before any supernatural forces got involved.  That’s what finally brought them together.  That emphatically does not include either of them having previous relationships with women, another canon divergence.  My prompt for these two would be that realization-sharing moment when compassion and love wakes in them and greed dies (and if it leads to PWP or at least implied PWP, so much the better) or a “slice-of-life” story in which they remember what happened, are grateful for it, and talk about what has happened since (maybe they’ve adopted a street child or something?).  Just no children younger than school age; I don’t want a baby fic.  * 

Dark Is Rising Sequence-Susan Cooper

*Merriman and Hawkin…I will go down with this ship.  For me, Hawkin doesn’t die…Merriman simply can’t let him go, and all Hawkin has ever wanted is to please him and love him.  Hawkin is Merriman’s vulnerability, and these two must be together.  I headcanon that Hawkin, at the last when he has started calling the dark entities and Merriman invites him to come home…he does.  He sends Hawkin to a place where he will be safe and when they reunite afterward…Hawkin is miserable for the sake of what he did.  But Merriman understands because Hawkin is only a man and vulnerable as such.  Forgiveness is given and received from both sides, and there is at least implied PWP (at least in this prompt version).  Slice of life, with Hawkin alive, is always great too.  *

A Little Princess-Frances Hodgson Burnett

*Only in this request have I used the further option of using all my characters or having exceptions to that further explained.  To clarify, you may feel free to write a story with all four of my characters.  My prompt for this kind of story would be the four of them spending an evening together as a family, and I headcanon that Tom Carrisford and Sarah Crewe consider Ram Dass and Becky to be part of their family despite them being servants.  Perhaps it is someone's birthday, and they are celebrating.  Maybe playing a game?  Just a warm, fuzzy, slice-of-life story with all the fluffiness it can hold.  I could use some fluff right now.  *

*The other option is to write as story with only Becky and Sarah Crewe or only Tom Carrisford and Ram Dass.  This is probably my most beloved childhood book, but it’s only as an adult that I have come to see pairing possibilities in this story.  For my headcanon here, I see Tom Carrisford (the Indian gentleman) as having previously been the lover of the late Captain Ralph Crewe (Sarah’s father).  The text certainly seems to imply the possibility.  But when Ralph Crewe dies, Ram Dass, the ever-faithful servant, steps in to help his master heal.  There is a power imbalance there between master and servant, but I have trouble seeing Tom Carrisford as anything other than looking to Ram Dass as wiser than he.  Crossing the line to lovers for them seems natural to me.  With the two of them, I see Ram Dass being the strong one, unfailingly loyal, and Tom Carrisford leaning on that strength.  Regardless of whether anything more than platonic affection is involved, a story between them would likely involve tenderness, gentleness, and just resting in each other’s presence, probably with Ram Dass trying to amuse Tom, perhaps with the monkey, while they hope for word of Sarah’s finding.*   

*Sarah and Becky are the other pairing here.  This one carries a bit less baggage because the girls are young, and I can easily see the two of them falling into a relationship.  During their shared days in the attic, the foundation for it has already been laid.  Once Sarah is rescued and Becky becomes her personal attendant, the two of them grow closer.  They likely have adjoining rooms, and Tom Carrisford (with Sarah’s careful attention) no doubt does his due diligence to bring Becky’s health and education up to speed.  As Ram Dass is so often at Tom’s side, Becky is so often at Sarah’s side, and Becky probably also learns to function as something like Sarah’s “lady’s maid,” performing rather intimate tasks such as dressing her mistress and doing her hair.  Although Becky is older than Sarah, the master/servant relationship orders their relationship from the beginning, and Becky looks to Sarah as the elder.  The power imbalance, while there, is gentler than with the male couple.  Regarding prompts for these two, I would like for these two to be post-canon, so that they can both at least be fifteen for anything more intimate than shy, tentative kissing to take place.  If they are younger or this is within the canon period of the story (or even if it’s not), I have a preference for female/female stories to involve women taking care of each other’s hair, washing and brushing it while they share gossip and secrets and talk of inconsequential things.  A “sleepover” spanning Becky’s first night and Sarah’s second night after Tom Carrisford has found Sarah would be a lovely time for that to take place.  *

*Of course, any of these characters would also lend themselves to platonic slice of life stories as well.  *

This is entirely random, but are you familiar with the visual novel A Little Lily Princess? It's an adaptation of that includes the option for Sara/Becky romance, as well as delving into many of the side characters! It's just a really nice story and also serves as a really lovely fanfic IMO <3
